There are many different types of heating that you can use to keep you and your family warm during those cold winter months. Two of these types are radiant heaters and gas heaters. Both are good methods to heat up a space, but you may find that one is more ideal for your situation. Continue reading to learn about the ways that radiant heaters may be better for your space than gas heaters.
Safe: An electric radiant heater prevents you from having to use flammable gas heaters. You won't have to worry about handling the gas bottles or dealing with a dangerous open flame.
Energy efficient: Radiant heaters concentrate their energy on heating their surface which then radiates the heat to warm the room. Gas heaters have to warm up the entire room and end up losing energy in the process.
Immediate results: Radiant heaters begin working as soon as you turn them on. You don't have any time to wait like you do with gas heaters that must warm up the gas before heat is produced.
Placement: You aren't limited to where you can place a radiant heater because the environment doesn't impact how it works. With gas heaters, you have to place them somewhere that allows the open flame to burn, which means it can't be exposed to any weather. You also have to make sure that there is enough oxygen in the space to keep the fire burning safely. Additionally, you can't place gas heaters under awnings or similarly closed environments as you can radiant heaters.
Cost efficient: Radiant heaters don't consume a material in order to heat, as gas heaters consume bottles of gas. You will find yourself purchasing many bottles of gas to keep your heater running when you could have chosen a radiant heater that just requires minimal electricity.
Maintenance: You will have to make sure that you keep the hoses and valves of a gas heater clean so that they function properly. You will also have to replace the gas supply occasionally during a gas heater's lifetime. A radiant heater doesn't require any of these maintenance tasks.
As you can see, a radiant heater has many advantages over gas heaters, but that doesn't mean that gas heaters aren't a good source of heat. Consider the space you are warming, your family, and how often you will be using the heating unit to help you decide which one is best.
